The Infinite Ocean
Beyond the safe shipping lanes lies an ocean no chart has ever fully captured. Sailors tell stories of a mysterious light over the water, of an ancient legend waking beneath the waves, and of things in the deep that drive people mad. Most treat these tales as warnings. A few treat them as directions.
The Boundaries
The ocean is crossed in stages known as Boundaries. Passing the First Boundary means leaving the known world behind. The Second Boundary is where the old rules of the sea begin to bend: the weather turns strange, the silence grows heavy, and every crossing costs something.
Powers & Factions
The Sovereign Empire
First mentioned: Vol. 1, Ch. 1
The dominant power of the known seas, with a vast navy, strict laws, and a long memory for anyone who crosses it. Its officers are proud and disciplined, but its ranks are not free of corruption.
The Ghost Fleet
First mentioned: Vol. 2, Ch. 6
A fleet spoken of in whispers, said to strike from the mist without warning. Whether it is a legend, a weapon, or something stranger is one of the questions the story slowly answers.
Places
Crimson Bay
First mentioned: Vol. 1, Ch. 1
A crowded port city where the story begins. Its taverns are loud, its alleys are narrow, and beneath its streets runs a criminal underworld ruled by people who would sell anything, including you.
The Black Mist Waters
First mentioned: Vol. 1, Ch. 11
A stretch of sea that sailors call a graveyard. Few ships enter it, and fewer crews come out the same way they went in.
The Coral Citadel
First mentioned: Vol. 1, Ch. 3
A fortress rising from the reefs, home to some of the most dangerous people on the sea. Its true origins may be far older than anyone living there realizes.
Ships & Artifacts
The Iron Oath
First mentioned: Vol. 1, Ch. 3
The ship that carries our crew into the unknown. She was never meant to be theirs, which makes her all the more precious to them.
The Regal Dawn
First mentioned: Vol. 1, Ch. 5
An Imperial supply ship anchored in Crimson Bay, loaded with black powder, Sovereign-grade steel, and months of rations. A very tempting target for anyone bold enough.
The Celestial Compass
First mentioned: Vol. 2, Ch. 31
A golden, astrolabe-like instrument that glows with a light of its own. It points toward something, but what it truly leads to is still a mystery.
Behind the World
I have always been drawn to stories where ancient legends, hidden secrets, and a little unexpected magic collide. The Infinite Ocean began as small ideas scribbled in a notebook: a rogue who talks too much, an officer who follows the rules too well, and a sea that refuses to stay on the map. Somewhere along the way those scraps turned into a full saga I cannot stop thinking about.
The ocean felt like the perfect stage for that. It is the one place where you can sail past the edge of what anyone knows, and every new Boundary gives the crew a chance to discover something about the world, and about themselves.
What I hope readers feel is the thrill of a slow-burn mystery, the warmth of a found family that keeps choosing each other, and a bit of chaos to keep things fun. I am still tinkering with the story as I go, chasing plot twists, and getting a little too attached to these characters.
The crew has only just begun to test the Second Boundary, and there is much more ocean ahead. New chapters are added regularly, so if you have a theory about the legend or the light, share it in the comments. I love seeing where readers think the story is going.
